Have you ever experienced how difficult it is to concentrate when you’re hungry? Imagine what it would be like to try and sit through class after class hungry.
The unfortunately reality is that many students in our school district know this feeling. While the school can often provide free/reduced cost meals during the week, what happens to these students over the weekend?
Second Harvest of the Big Bend is partnering with local school districts to provide backpacks of food on Friday afternoon to help food insecure students through the weekend. The program cost approximately $200 per student per school year. Envision Credit Union is helping to defray the cost by pledging a donation for every swipe of an Envision credit or debit card.
